About two seconds exposure on Fuji 160C negative film gave this image of Mesa Arch at dawn. Because of the wide latitude of 160C, good exposure records shadow and sky.
There were about six other photographers present that morning. As the sun approached and rose over the horizon, they were so busy with their shutters that it sounded like a press conference. I made five well-considered exposures (one from the position shown here), and this is my favorite. It received a First Place Award at California Mid-State Fair.
