The Canyon at Night

A full moon, and an exposure of ten to fifteen seconds delivers this image from one of Zabriskie's canyons in the middle of the night. And the stars! I did not expect them to show so well.

Three of us had the canyon, and the silence, to ourselves. We hiked from Zabriskie Point to Manly Beacon. We stopped several times, and at this location I saw that the foreground shadow could be used to good effect. It adds a third primary element to the starry sky and yellow hills, and provides a visual foundation for the photograph.
