This is Sarah Sigman, and she's not performing at night! This is an early afternoon outdoor performance. The image was composed with the shaded side of a large tree behind her, and strong sunlight on her hat, hands and microphone. Full flash exposure illuminates Sarah and sends the shady tree to black, with backlight from the sun completing the illusion of a night stage performance.
