Heavy Overhead

Were it not so beautiful, the massive rock would be oppressive. The enormous, raspberry taffee overhead rock looms above, and an opening of light beckons beyond. Such is the insidious attraction of the slot canyons: we are drawn further in by each curve and shaft of light.

A wide angle lens (21mm) emphasises perspective, and records a large expanse of the foreground rock. Well aware that the dark elements of the canyon would be very important in the print, I used ISO400 to keep noise to a minimum. A tripod and f/13 at 1/20th of a second got the job done.
