Shattered Dreams

So many businesses, and so many lives, were altered forever by Interstate 40. Pictured here is broken glass from a Bell Gas station. Gasoline fueled the automobiles that gave life and livelihood to Route 66. Increased traffic brought forth the Interstate Highway System (with a nod to national security). What once was, is largely gone forever. Nearly all locally owned businesses are gone. The wonderful sense of local character and style are gone. It is a high price to pay for travelers on the road for the journey.
