Slopes lead to the tree, the primary vertical element of the photograph. The small cabin, by nature of its luminance (supported by the sky), also plays a strong role in the image. The tree keeps our eyes from drifting off the frame as we follow the slopes, and our eyes come to rest upon the cabin.
