This is a perspective on the orchestra that few people see. I think that if the musician on the left were seated, the composition would not work so well. He anchors the left, and incandescent illumination draws our attention across the frame.
Compromise is frequently a factor when photographing live events such as this one. In this case, the compromise mostly involved camera position to affect the placement of the foreground mic stand at the right side of the frame. I might have liked it to appear to further right than the trombone man, but that yielded distractions irrelevant to the orchestra.
