Highway Gimmickry

My father and I went to Nebraska in a Triumph TR3 sport car when I was twelve. I've been hooked on road trips ever since. The highway gimmickry and weirdness is part of the enjoyment.

Note the price of fuel here. In California, we pay an additional sixty cents a gallon, on top of other taxes and fees, for diesel fuel. This is to pay for highway maintenance. Previous funding (from taxes and fees on fuel) was robbed by our irresponsible politicans in Sacramento and placed in the state's general fund. So now we have more fees which, in a few years, will again mysteriously appear in the general fund.
