Cholla Cactus Garden

The cholla really pop in late afternoon light. Morning light is no doubt similar, but then you'd be looking toward the road and parking area to see this effect. The hills provide an excellent, non-distracting background.

Cholla spines are nasty; you don't want to get stuck by them. I've seen people trying to dig them out of clothing and skin. It does not appear to be a pleasant process.
