Camp San Luis Road Race

The weird thing for me was to be at a cycling event and not know anybody there. The characters have changed since 1997 when my back forced me off the bikes. Although I never did much racing, many of the people I regularly rode with were strong in the sport, some participating in national and international class events.
I suppose that the poor spectator turnout was due to the day of the event: Fourth of July. Bigger crowds, I'm sure, prevailed the next day for the San Luis Obispo Criterium. Without the crowds, I enjoyed more freedom and mobility for photography. The photos here are in no order, and they were made near the start-finish area. Had I arrived earlier, I might have wandered over more of the course.
