Another Fourth, and another day with friends at Cayucos. Lots of fog, which our weather gurus like to refer to as a "marine layer." This prevailed until after the parade. The soft, flat light was nice for some people photography, but not so great for the sand sculptures. Morning was a bit chilly. I noticed many people using long sleeves to keep their hands warm, and I photographed a few of them.

The people watching the parade were sometimes just as interesting as the parade itself. Many came early, and some weary faces looked like they had gotten there very early indeed. Nana's Bunch brought reminders of The Fifties, and the Haight Bus harkened to the San Francisco Flower Power scene of The Sixties.

Late afternoon found a veritable crush of people on the beach, playing, relaxing and biding their time until the fireworks show. It was all good fun, and that is how it should be.
