Surfing Contest ~ Pismo Beach Open

This was a professional event, as evidenced by promotional material and by action on the water. Very cool. I must confess that I know very little about surfing, but it was a pleasure to watch these people giving their best. It was also good fun photographing them. The surfers and their maneuvers are not equally represented here. This site is about photography, and the images shown below are the ones that I like most.
