Roy's Route 66 Cruisin' Car Show

Roy's Motel and Cafe, and illuminated neon sign, is an icon of The Mother Road. The car show drew about four-hundred entries, and the old machines parked near the motel cabins provided good opportunities for photography. The cars also reflected the restored and illuminated sign. There were men with fine beards and lovely ladies—some even wore dresses, just like the good old days.

The motel and cabins are closed, and the cafe no longer serves food, other than snacks and drinks. Water is scarce at Amboy, limiting business activities. But the mood and memories remain, and Amboy is worth a visit.
